Mandy and Steve Hillyar are our small business centre owners and are committed to operating a nurturing and welcoming early education and care environment for your child/children.

We are very flexible with your needs, and ask you what you are looking for in an early childhood education environment? If you would like to see your child thrive, develop, socialise and explore please come and have a look around. Meet our amazing Educators and get to know them better; we are all about building relationships with you, the Moruya Community and your child.

Want to know more about the centre?

Moruya Early Learning Centre operates with 3 main rooms:

• A Baby room (0-2yrs) – up to 8 babies
• A Toddler room (2-3yrs) – up to 8 toddlers
• A preschool room (3-6yrs) – up to 30 preschoolers

We operate the rooms in age groups and we find that dividing the ages up allows for more personalised and individual care of your little ones.

The babies group into 4 younger babies and 4 older babies, the toddler’s stay in a group of 8 and the preschool children split into two groups one 3-4yrs old and one 4-5 years old. The names of these groups of children are Mara, Banggu, Bilima, Buru and Guraban. These names are taken from Aboriginal animals that are indigenous to the Eurobodalla area.

We have so many wonderful staff that are integral in the way we operate our Centre.
We have 3 Early Childhood trained Teachers, Many Diploma qualified educators as well as Certificate III educators, Trainee Educators , qualified chefs and Administration employees. All staff have a first aid certificate and have been employed within the centre for quite a while. We value our Educators, the relationships we share create a very family friendly atmosphere, I hope when you walk through the doors that this transfers to you and you feel warm, supported and safe here with us at Moruya Early Learning Centre.

Preschool Room

Our preschool educators are a team of experienced professionals, including university trained teachers, who are dedicated to ensuring that all of the children reach their full potential in a warm, nurturing and educational setting. The program is planned based on the needs and interests of the children, with the Early Years Learning Framework being the foundation curriculum, which guides the teaching practice.

The preschool room is equipped with the latest technology including a Smart Table, a Smart Board and I Pads, to enhance the children’s learning outcomes, however there is a balance with more traditional learning areas of play. The educators are very passionate about school readiness and there is a school transition program, which incorporates visits to the local primary schools throughout the year. The preschool program is focused on literacy and numeracy outcomes, as well as the very important social development skills needed for a smooth transition to school. The educators utilize programs such as “Reading Eggs” and “Math’s Seeds” using the technology to enhance these skills.

Moruya Early Learning Centre is in partnership with Wollongong University as part of the Early Start Project. We are one in 41 early childhood services in NSW chosen to be a part of the project. It’s purpose is to deliver better outcomes for children living in regional, rural and remote communities, and is an initiative that combines research, teaching and community engagement in the earliest years of life. As a result, our educators have access to the latest professional training, and our children have access to the latest technology and resources to improve their learning outcomes.

How about the Educational Program?

We offer so many educational programs within the centre; these are individualised and specific to each age group with a primary carer who is responsible for programming each child’s needs.
We use a system for documenting each individual child’s development called ‘Kinderloop’ you may want to find out more about it. We find many families excited by the instant possibilities of Kinderloop, it is really satisfying to hear some of the feedback from families who are benefitting from this already.
At Moruya Early Learning Centre we program and document through a cycle of observing, planning and extending the development or play interest. This is then evaluated and re-planned as we continue on the cycle of learning and development.

We hope this information has answered some of your questions, I’m sure there will be plenty more, and it’s alright, we understand you are entrusting your special people to us to care for and develop throughout the day. It is so understandable that you need as much information as possible to ensure you make the right decision about their future.

Thankyou, Moruya Early Learning Centre
